About Us
Sear + Savor was originally founded as Smash by The Kitchen Sink in July 2023 in Eagle, Idaho. Founders Ron and Lindsey Hunt had been working corporate jobs for more than a decade and believed there could be a more rewarding way to earn money. Lindsey had always dreamed of creating a restaurant where she could bring American comfort food to life. Building a traditional brick-and-mortar restaurant would take heavy capital, years to build, and the restaurant scene in Eagle was already well-established. But she knew there was a better way.
The first iteration of the menu had sandwiches, several salads, luxurious cheeseburgers, and even gourmet hot dogs. But after countless (but fun and delicious) hours of menu testing, it became clear that the winner was always the burgers, but they weren’t just any burgers. They were smash burgers with a twist.
Once the menu was complete, all that was left was deciding a location. A permanent location felt restrictive, so it was decided that a food trailer could bring their vision to life. Ron and Lindsey reviewed dozens of websites offering custom-built food trailers and found many non-traditional options to convert campers and horse trailers into mobile kitchens. After discovering a local manufacturer only 30 minutes from their home, Ron and Lindsey met with the owners to discuss a concept. They wanted something that was easy to park, light enough to tow with a smaller truck, and designed to be a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen. Eight weeks later, a custom-built food trailer was finished, permits were in place, and they were living the food trailer life.
In 2024, Smash transformed into Sear + Savor. New smash burger recipes are still being created and tested today!

Community Impact
Faces of Hope offers a beacon of support for individuals affected by violence and abuse. By providing immediate, comprehensive services to victims, they create a safer, more hopeful environment for recovery and empowerment. Sear + Savor is honored to contribute to their mission, helping to ensure that those in our community facing tough times find the help and hope they need to move forward.
The Association for Frontotemporal Denegration’s mission is to improve the quality of life of people affected by FTD and drive research to a cure. They work every day to advance research, awareness, education, and advocacy for FTD. We at Sear + Savor are inspired by their commitment to providing not only education and research but support to those affected by FTD.
Lindsey’s father, Bill, was diagnosed with FTD in May 2024. She and her family are committed to being a resource for those going through having a loved one diagnosed with FTD.
